Big second half leads Eagles to girls basketball victory over Elyria

Twelve different players scored and host Avon used a big 35-10 advantage in the second half to break open a relatively close game Saturday, defeating Southwestern Conference for Elyria, 64-32. The Eagles are now 6-10 overall and 5-4 in SWC play.

Abby Owens led the Avon effort with 13 points, while Isla Anderson added nine and Janelle Antrum and Alaina Pagan each had eight. The Eagles held leads of 16-11 after one quarter and 29-22 at halftime before enjoying scoring margins of 18-7 in the third period and 17-3 in the fourth.

The Eagles host North Ridgeville on Wednesday in SWC action. The Eagles downed Ridgeville, 54-46, on Dec. 13.
