Bowlers get back to winning ways with sweep over Brunswick
After struggling in the Southwestern Conference Tournament on Sunday, Avon’s bowling teams were back on the lanes the very next day, earning a sweep over Brunswick at Nautical Lanes. The boys won by the score of 2,311-1,950, while the girls won, 1,584-995.
Avon’s boys, now 10-5 on the season, were led by junior Bennett Ernst, who rolled a two-game series of 214-258 (472). He was backed by Grady Stipe at 172-265 (437), Nathen Stewart at 198-192 (390), and Austin Wolfe at 155-181 (336). In addition, Cole Corpus rolled a single game of 173, and Nick Sanchez reached 147 in his one game.
The girls, 8-7, were led by Ava Benninghofen with a series of 170-157 (327). She was followed by Kailynn Forbis at 150-141 (291), Cameron Gallup at 136-123 (259) and Grace Freeman at 122-126 (248).
The Eagles will compete against Berea-Midpark at Brookgate Lanes on Wednesday, followed by the sectional tournament Sunday at Yorktown Lanes.
