Bowling teams return to action, sweep past SWC foe Elyria

After a prolonged stretch of cancellations and postponements due to the weather, Avon’s bowling teams returned to their winning ways Monday, as both teams defeated Elyria in a Southwestern Conference match at Nautical Lanes.

The girls took a lead of 102 pins in the first individual game and then held on to win by 54 pins, downing the Pioneers by the score of 1,550-1,496 to up their record to 7-6. It wasn’t until the second individual game that Avon’s boys took control of their match, as they turned a 12-pin lead after the first game into a 157-pin lead entering the Baker games. The Eagles won by the score of 2,281-2,035 to move to 8-5 on the season.

Juliet Triplett led the way for Avon’s girls with scores of 138-159 (297). She was backed by Kailynn Forbis at 136-127 (263), Grace Freeman at 125-136 (261), Ava Benninghofen (145), Cameron Gallup (123) and Kara Patton (84).

Bennett Ernst topped Avon’s boys at 185-247 (432), followed by Nick Sanchez at 192-197 (389), Grady Stipe at 200-182 (382), Nathen Stewart at 172-185 (357) and Austin Wolfe at 160-179 (339).

Next on the schedule for the Eagles is a match Wednesday against Midview at AMF Lanes in North Ridgeville.
