Bowling teams split their dual match with Westlake

Four Avon bowlers reached season-best performances as the teams split their dual match with Westlake Wednesday at Nautical Lanes.

Grady Stipe and Nathen Stewart led the way for the Avon boys, which won by the score of 2,231-1,986 to up their record to 5-4. Stipe was the top bowler for the Eagles at 219-278 (497), while Stewart followed at 168-224 (392), both season's bests. Also competing for Avon were Nick Sanchez at 176-153 (329), Bennett Ernst at 159-157 (316), Austin Wolfe (161) and Cole Corpus (159).

Avon's girls lost by just 40 pins, 1,631-1,591, to drop to 4-5. The Eagles were led by Grace Freeman at 207-114 (321) and Kara Patton at 157-127 (284). They were backed by Kailynn Forbis at 111-104 (215), Ava Benninghofen (141), Cameron Gallup (140) and Juliet Triplett (113).

Next on the schedule for Avon is a conference matchup with North Ridgeville Monday at Nautical Lanes.
