Boys bowling is now 9-5 after teams split with Midview

After placing in the middle of the pack last weekend in the North Shore Bowling Conference tournament, Avon’s bowlers faced off with Southwestern Conference foe Midview Wednesday at AMF Lanes in North Ridgeville. The teams split with the Middies, as the boys won, 2,344-2,266 and the girls lost, 1,955-1,699.
The boys, now 9-5 on the season, were led by Austin Wolfe, who rolled a two-game series of 224-225 (449). He was followed by Bennett Ernst at 203-236 (439), Grady Stipe at 204-199 (403), Nathen Stewart at 162-200 (362) and Cole Corpus with a 151.
The girls, who fell to 7-7, were topped by Juliet Triplett at 171-138 (309). She was backed by Ava Benninghofen at 159-139 (298), Kailynn Forbis at 161-131 (292), Grace Freeman at 197-91 (288) and Cameron Gallup with a 122.
At the NSBC Tournament, the boys placed sixth out of 12 teams with a total score of 3,953. Ernst had the second-best three-game series in the field with scores of 255-180-237 (672). The girls, who were seventh of 12 teams with a score of 2,993, were led by Triplett, who was 16th at 217-148-110 (475) and Freeman, who was 17th at 160-159-154 (473).
The Eagles will compete in the SWC tournament Sunday at Nautical Lanes.
