Boys lacrosse drops hard-fought 10-7 decision to Rocky River
Visiting Rocky River took control in the fourth quarter to hand Avon’s boys lacrosse team its first loss of the season, a 10-7 decision that drops the Eagles to 3-1.
Avon trailed by just one, 7-6, entering the fourth period. Joseph Smith scored four goals for River, with two coming in the final period as the unbeaten Pirates scored three goals to just one for the hosts to clinch the victory.
Fin Jerdonek led the way for the Eagles with three goals and two assists. He was backed by Jude Theibert with two goals, Jackson Brokaw with a goal and an assist, and Will Conley with one goal. Evan Jurgens and Jace Barton each had an assist for Avon, and goalie Lucas Deacon had 17 saves.
The Eagles will again be in action on April 9 when they travel to Brunswick.
