Boys soccer posts fourth consecutive shutout in topping Westlake
Senior Mateo Muratore scored twice—giving him five goals in the last two games—and senior goalkeeper Owen Huron posted his fourth consecutive shutout Monday as Avon’s boys soccer team blanked visiting Westlake, 5-0, in a rain-soaked non-conference affair.
It’s been since a 4-1 victory over North Ridgeville on August 26 that anyone has scored against Avon, as the Eagles have posted consecutive victories of 5-0 over Berea-Midpark, 2-0 over Mentor, 9-0 over Midview and 5-0 over Westlake. On the season, Avon has outscored its opponents, 30-5, including 21-0 in the past four matches.
The Eagles, 6-1-1 overall and unbeaten in Southwestern Conference play, dominated possession throughout the contest, hardly allowing the Demons any scoring chances. Also finding the nets for the Eagles were Brayden Carlin, Cole Veverka and Landon Vega.
Next on the schedule for Avon is a home SWC match Wednesday against Amherst.
