Boys soccer remains unbeaten in SWC play with victory over Amherst
London Carnie had two goals and two assists and Mateo Muratore added a goal and an assist Wednesday as host Avon rolled past Amherst in Southwestern Conference boys soccer action, 9-2. With the victory, the Eagles are now 7-1-1 overall and 4-0 in conference play.
Also scoring goals for Avon were Cole Veverka, Caleb Free, Brayden Carlin, Ian Kilgore and Cooper Kolk. Earning assists for the Eagles were Daniel Hernandez-Leon, Ryan Wadas, Connor Britt and Jacob Ravas.
Next on the schedule for Avon is two huge road games. Saturday the Eagles travel to Brecksville-Broadview Heights for a rematch of last year’s state semifinal that saw Avon pull out a 2-1 overtime victory on an improbable wind-blown free kick by Britt. Then, on Wednesday Avon will play at rival Avon Lake, which is unbeaten on the season.
