Boys tennis sweeps Amherst to remain undefeated
Avon’s tennis team didn’t give up a set to host Amherst Wednesday as the unbeaten Eagles swept past the Comets at Fox Creek Golf and Raquet Club, 5-0.
The tightest match came at first singles, with Avon’s Aarav Kishorepuria prevailing by the scores of 6-2, 7-6 (7-1). Blake Netschke breezed through his match at second singles, 6-0, 6-1, as did Ashton Schwanger at third singles, 6-3, 6-1. Avon’s first doubles team of Caleb Free and Grant Nagy didn’t drop a game in their 6-0, 6-0 decision, and Bidwat Mishra and Jaxen Springer took a 6-1, 6-1 victory at second doubles.
Avon, now 9-0, hosts Hawken on Thursday.
