Eagles blank Aurora, 3-0, for ninth boys soccer shutout of the season
London Carnie had a goal and an assist and goalkeeper Owen Huron and the Avon defense posted their ninth shutout of the season as the boys soccer team traveled to Aurora Tuesday and came away with a 3-0 non-conference victory. The Eagles are now 11-1-3 overall and 6-0 in Southwestern Conference play.
Facing a 2025 state runner-up for the third time this season, Avon continued to play stifling defense, as the Eagles have outscored their last five opponents, 17-1. Aurora was the Division III state runner-up last year. Avon also tied Division IV state runner-up Bay this season and lost to Division I state runner-up St. Ignatius.
London Carnie gave the Eagles a 1-0 halftime lead and later provided the corner kick that found its way to the nets on a header by Cole Veverka. In between, Connor Britt scored for Avon on a left-footed shot.
The Eagles end the regular season on Thursday when they travel to Olmsted Falls. A victory or a tie will give Avon its second consecutive SWC crown.
