Eagles play Lakewood to a 0-0 tie, host Avon Lake next
For the first time this season, the Avon boys soccer team failed to score a goal Monday, finishing in a 0-0 tie with host Lakewood. It was the third tie in the past four matches for the Eagles, now 8-2-3 overall and 5-0 in Southwestern Conference play. Avon found itself playing against a hot goalkeeper, as Lakewood’s Louis van der Kull made several great saves to keep the Eagles at bay. Avon had the advantage in ball possession throughout the match but couldn’t find the nets. Next up for the Eagles is Wednesday’s SWC clash with Avon Lake which is likely to determine the conference champion. Both teams enter the match with 5-0 records in the SWC.
