Eagles tennis edges Medina Highland to remain unbeaten

Ignoring temperatures that hovered around 40 degrees, Avon’s tennis team remained hot Tuesday, edging host Medina Highland in a tight contest that saw two of the five matches go to three sets. The Eagles took a 3-2 decision to up their record to 4-0.

Aarav Kishorepuria won at first singles, 7-5, 6-4, as did Ashton Schwanger at third singles, 6-2, 6-2. The victory was clinched by the first doubles team of Caleb Free and Grant Nagy, who dropped the first set but came back strong to take a 5-7, 6-4, 6-3 decision.

Also for Avon, Blake Netschke lost a hard-fought battle at second singles, 2-6, 6-0, 4-6, and the team of Bidwat Mishra and Jaxen Springer fell at second doubles, 4-6, 2-6.

Next on the schedule for the Eagles is a match Wednesday at Westlake in the Coaches Cup state team tournament.
