Ernst, Benninghofen lead bowlers to victory over Columbia

Bennett Ernst and Ava Benninghofen each had strong performances recently to lead their respective Avon bowling teams to victory over Columbia at Nautical Lanes. Ernst, an individual state qualifier last year, set personal records in both single game and series, rolling games of 258 and 260 for a series of 518. Last year, the junior averaged 184 per game for the season. Benninghofen also was well over her average from last year, bowling games of 157 and 146 for a 303 series. Last year she averaged 95 per game. It was a record-setting day for the Avon girls, who set four school records in the victory over Columbia. Kay Forbis, Cam Gallup, Benninghofen, Grace Freeman and Juliet Triplett now hold the following school records as a team: high team series with Baker games (1695), high team game with Baker game (920), high team game without Baker (753) and high Baker game series (321). Avon’s bowlers will next be in action December 8 at Nautical Lanes against Southwestern Conference foe Olmsted Falls.
