Girls CC rests top nine runners, JVs place 16th of 24
With the top runners getting the weekend off, Avon had its junior varsity runners toe the line Saturday at the Cloverleaf Todd Clark Invitational, and the Eagles responded well. Avon scored 438 points to place 16th of 24 teams. Hudson and Lexington finished atop the team race with 92 points each, and the Explorers won the crown due to a sixth-runner tiebreaker. The top finisher for Avon was sophomore Chloe Dawson, who clocked 21 minutes, 37.1 seconds over the 5,000-meter race held at the Silver Creek Metro Park in Norton. She was followed by classmate Lilly Suter in 84th (22:00.6), Brooklyn Fagan in 87th (22:04.5), Momoka Tanaka in 94th (22:14.5), Isabella Eddy in 111th (22:49.4), Peyton Schwanger in 116th (23:09.5) and Marisa Weller in 123rd (23:22.1). Next on the schedule for the Eagles is a trip to suburban Columbus September 27 to compete in the Berlin Bear Dash at Olentangy Berlin High School.
