Jack Hecei earns district spot, but Eagles just miss as a team
Jack Hecei qualified as an individual to move on to the district tournament Monday in the Division I boys sectional golf tournament at Grey Hawk Golf Club in Lagrange, but the Eagles missed by one spot qualifying as a team. Hecei, a junior, carded a 5-over 77 to earn one of four individual spots at Grey Hawk. He will compete in the district tournament October 6 at Pine Hills Golf Course in Hinckley with a possible berth in the state tournament on the line. The Eagles shot a team score of 333 and finished just three strokes outside of the fourth and final qualifying spot. The four team qualifiers were Rocky River (316), Avon Lake (322), Westlake (324) and St. Edward (330). Hecei was backed by fellow juniors Ethan Olszowsky and Zack Snyder, each with an 84, senior Jack Arnold with an 88 and sophomore Samuel Griffiths with an 89.
