Second-half outburst helps Eagles shut out Amherst, 6-0

Brock Harman scored two goals and Connor Britt and Mateo Muratore each had a goal and an assist Wednesday as visiting Avon rolled past Amherst in a Southwestern Conference boys soccer matchup, 6-0. With the victory, the Eagles remain in a tie for first in the SWC with Avon Lake with identical 5-0 marks. The teams will play in a showdown for SWC supremacy at Avon October 1. Britt opened the scoring with a header off a pass from London Carnie, followed by an unassisted goal by Harman that staked Avon a 2-0 lead at halftime. Muratore then scored from Britt and then assisted on Harman’s second goal. Late in the match, Liam Viers added a goal from Grady Kramer, as did Finn Petzinger from Ryan Wadas. The Eagles will be in action again Saturday when they host Brecksville-Broadview Heights, which is 7-1-1.
