Tennis team opens the season with a sweep of Rocky River
The recent cold snap has forced tennis players indoors, but it didn’t bother the Avon Eagles Friday as they swept past Rocky River in their season opening match at FoxCreek Tennis Center in Lorain.
Aarav Kishorepuria won at first singles, 6-3, 6-0, while Blake Netschke blanked his opponent at second singles, 6-0, 6-0, and Ashton Schwanger took third singles, 6-2, 6-2. The lone set that was dropped by Avon came at first doubles, but Caleb Free and Grant Nagy dominated the third set to win, 6-3, 4-6, 6-2. Bidwat Mishra and Jaxen Springer took second doubles for the Eagles, 6-2, 6-4.
Avon will be competing in the St. Edward Invitational Saturday at the Paramount Tennis Club in Westlake.
