Joe Magill | Avon High School | May 1, 2026

Trevor Sykora drilled a three-run home run and then added a walk-off sacrifice fly Thursday as host Avon edged North Ridgeville, 8-7 in 10 innings in Southwestern Conference play. The Eagles are now 5-9 overall and 2-5 in the conference.

Sykora’s home run came in the second inning, when Avon plated four runs to take a 4-0 lead. However, the Rangers battled back to tie the score in the top of the seventh, setting up Sykora’s late-game heroics.

Bryce Chura and Carter Jenny each had two hits for the Eagles, with Chura cracking a triple and scoring two runs. Jenny had an RBI and also scored a run. Austin Wolfe added a two-run double and scored a run, and Nathan Peters had a double and a walk and scored twice.

The victory went to Evan Masuga, who pitched a scoreless 10th inning while allowing a hit.

Next on the schedule for Avon is a trip to Kenston on Friday.
