Wieber sets personal record to lead Avon boys CC at Cloverleaf Invitational

Blaise Wieber was the top finisher for the Avon boys cross country team Saturday, setting a new PR along the way. Competing in the Cloverleaf Todd Clark Invitational at the Silver Creek Metro Park in Norton, the junior finished the 5,000-meter race with a time of 18 minutes, 5.2 seconds to place 76th. His previous PR of 18:28.0 was set early in the season at Centerville. With several of the top runners getting the weekend off, the Eagles scored 546 points to place 21st among 26 teams. The team winner was Lexington with 47 points, followed by CVCA with 70. Anthony Danicki was the second runner for Avon, finishing in 82nd place with a time of 18:12.6. He was followed by Caden Matthews in 102nd (18:40.5), Tim Gardner in 138th (19:29.0), Alessandro Anamasi in 148th (19:44.2) and Jack Copeland in 164th (20:08.3). Next on the schedule for the Eagles is a trip to suburban Columbus September 27 to compete in the Berlin Bear Dash at Olentangy Berlin High School.
