Ziegler explodes for 30 as Eagles edge Westlake, 74-71
Junior guard Joey Ziegler scored 30 points Tuesday as host Avon took an early lead and then held on for a non-conference victory over Westlake, 74-71. In handing the Demons their first loss of the season, Avon moves to 2-2. Ziegler scored 19 of his points in the first half, which saw the Eagles take leads of 22-15 after one quarter and 37-32 at the half. The margin got up to 58-49 after three quarters, and then Avon held off Westlake for the victory. Avon, which hosts Max Hayes Saturday afternoon, also got 15 points from Brooks Good, eight each from Sam Griffiths and Trevor Sykora, and seven from Gavyn Kittelberger.
