Bay Girls Lacrosse built the separation early Tuesday night and never let Avon Lake back into the match, riding a dominant first half to a 19-9 home victory at Bay High School.

The decisive stretch came before halftime, when the Rockets surged to a 15-5 lead and turned the game into a showcase of offensive balance. Bay finished with seven different goal scorers, a sign of how consistently the attack generated chances throughout the first two quarters. Layla Meaux led the way with six goals, while Gracie Fitchpatrick added five goals and three assists in one of the team’s most productive outings of the season.

Hadley Clark also played a major role in the win with three goals and an assist, and Jill Tennant scored twice. Sydney Maybaum contributed a goal and an assist, while Avery Schriner and Clare Messmore each found the net once. Bay’s ball movement showed up in the assist column as well, with Kaitlyn Aquino and Nolie Piktel each recording an assist as the Rockets repeatedly converted possessions into scoring opportunities.

With the offense clicking early, Bay controlled the tone of the game and forced Avon Lake to chase from the outset. The Rockets’ 15-goal first half reflected a sharp attacking pace and the ability to finish from multiple spots on the field. Even as Avon Lake managed to score nine times overall, Bay’s early cushion allowed the team to stay in command through the second half.

No faceoff, save or quarter-by-quarter totals were provided, but the final margin underscored how thoroughly Bay controlled the night’s key moments. The Rockets’ scoring depth, led by Meaux, Fitchpatrick and Clark, was the clearest storyline, especially in a game where contributions came from across the lineup rather than a single source.

For Bay, the strongest takeaway was the combination of production and balance. A fast start, a 10-goal halftime advantage and seven goal scorers gave the Rockets exactly the kind of complete performance teams look for as the season moves forward.
